Violinist Madison Marcucci joins the Ambler Symphony for a performance of one of the most beloved violin concertos, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor. Then, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major will fill the concert hall with the sounds of nature, dance, and one of the most brilliant finales in the entire orchestral repertoire.

Ambler Symphony celebrates the Chinese New Year with the joyful Spring Festival Overture by Li Huanzhi. Later, Cong Fan performs the demanding solo part in the Yellow River Piano Concerto, based on Xian Xinghai’s Yellow River Cantata. Finally, Temple University Provost Hai-Lung Dai guest conducts Ruotao Mao as he plays the famous Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, a distinctly Chinese work composed by He Zhanhao and Chen Gang. Ambler Symphony performs an original composition entitled Reflections on Boathouse Row by second violinist and Board President John Mahony. Critically acclaimed cellist Stephen Framil joins the orchestra to perform the Cello Concerto in B minor by Antonin Dvorak, one of the cornerstones of the cello repertoire. Franz Schubert’s haunting Fantasy in F minor was written as a piano duet, but was transcribed for orchestra several years after his death to allow larger audiences to hear this masterpiece. Concluding the concert, the thrilling Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi.
